Ilio-Tibial Band Syndrome

This condition causes pain on the outer portion of the knee. The "band" is both muscle and ligament, and like the achilles, is greatly affected by repetitive activities such as running. The muscle on the outer portion of our thigh, the TFL, accumulates toxins and involved fibers will begin to shorten. This increases the tension on the I-T Band. Treatment consists of:

  • Reduce activity during the acute phase - look to cross train.
  • Ice the area of involvement, especially after exercise.
  • Use The Stick over the entire muscle, to top of band, multiple times per day.
  • If available, apply ultra-sound treatment.
  • Begin the use of Rehab Plus immediately as an all-natural anti-inflammatory.
  • Evaluate shoes for wear and tear as well as proper mechanical fit.
  • Determine foot-type for the purpose of wearing proper shoes.
  • Consider The Structural Fingerprint Exam with standing x-rays if condition doesn't heal.
  • Consider custom orthotics for long-range plan.
