Neck Pain

The neck is like the top floor of a building. If the bottom floors are imbalanced or structurally defective, the top floors will also be imbalanced. This too applies to the neck. The cervical spine is a relatively thin structure which has to support the head (approximately 10% of the body weight), and if prior traumas have occurred, such as whiplash, the muscles of the neck will tighten to protect against further injury. Treatment consists of:

  • Reduce activity during the acute phase.
  • Ice areas of pain 20 minutes at a time, multiple times per day.
  • Use The Stick over entire muscle multiple times per day.
  • Determine cause of pain
  • Treat symptoms initially
  • After pain is gone, correct and rehabilitate biomechanical defects
  • Once improved, perform necessary maintenance exercises and recommendations to maintain improvements.
