Rehabilitation Services
All injuries improve quicker and more thoroughly with appropriate physical therapy and rehabilitative exercises. We employ a combination of advanced physical therapy modalities and treatments that will compliment all other treatments our office provides.
Cold Laser Therapy
Dr. Maggs is an expert in the use of cold laser therapy. He provides this amazing therapy using Erchonia cold lasers. His Erchonia FX 635 laser is FDA approved to treat plantar fasciitis, and he uses other Erchonia 3LT® Lasers to provide relief to his clients as well.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation, cold laser therapy, and laser bio-stimulation, has been proved to be safe, effective, and painless. Used to treat injuries and chronic pain, LLLT is a medical treatment that stimulates cellular function. This therapy involves the use of red and infrared light applied to the affected area. The light stimulates the cells to repair tissue, reduce inflammation, and reduce pain. Low-level laser therapy thus helps sick or injured cells take in oxygen and nutrients at a level similar to that of a healthy cell. It also helps these injured cells release wastes and toxins.
LLLT is a safe procedure that produces no heat, so there is no tissue destruction as there would be with high-powered lasers. Some of the advantages of LLLT are as follows:- It is safe. The FDA considers LLLT to be without significant risk.
- It is noninvasive. Unlike surgery, LLLT does not cut or invade the body. There is no damage to skin, tissue, or muscle, and thus, no recovery time after treatment.
- It is non-toxic. Many physicians prescribe medications called NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for pain and inflammation. As with any drugs, NSAIDs have side effects, whereas LLLT has no toxic effects.
- It is easily applied. The therapy is quick, easy, and painless.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio taping is an effective treatment for all sorts of sports injuries. The simplicity and ease of use, combined with it’s powerful benefits make it a near necessity if muscle and tendon health is your goal.
There are four major functions of kinesio-taping that have been observed in practice and in the laboratory. Anyone who uses it can expect benefits in one or more of the following categories:- Supports Muscles
- Removes Congestion to the Flow of Body Fluids
- Reduces Pain
- Helps Correct Joint Problems
Taping reduces spasms and shortened muscles, that cause both pain and misalignments, and normalizes muscle tone and abnormality of fascia in joints. Taping improves joint range of motion and also reduces joint pain.Spinal Decompression
This computerized traction and release is the gold standard treatment for people with non-surgical back injuries that are a result of excessive compression and trauma over their lifetime. This can include disc bulges and herniations, spinal stenosis, foraminal stenosis, disc degeneration, and more. Combined with cold laser therapy and custom orthotics, people are able to return to a normal and active life in many cases.
